Concrete screws
Concrete screws are actually made up of steel and chemically containing less carbon. This composition enhances their hardness. These screws have more usage than iron screws because of their piercing ability to drive in concrete walls. In addition to drive in concrete walls these screws are also used for securing load applications into hollow brick, solid brick and stone surfaces.
These screws have top load-bearing capacity and easy installation. The high quality steel and stainless steel versions enable them to be used in cracked and uncracked concrete, indoors and outdoors, and in seismic influenced areas. These screws are considered ideal for temporary anchors and their dismantlement is feasible.
Design
The design of ONSPOTMIX concrete screws are very carefully made to anchor into concrete block and brick. These screws also have the ability to tap threads into a pre-drilled hole in concrete, blocks and bricks. 5/30 inches bits used for 2/16 inches screws. Our company use these bits for standard as well as for stainless steel screws. The standard screws are light duty masonry anchors and are primarily used in dry indoor for attaching items to concrete, brick or block.
They also can be used for attaching 2×4 lumber to concrete, a light fixture to brick, or furring strips to a block wall.
INSTALLATION
Installation of these screws is very simple and consists of a four step process: drill, clean, insert and drive.
The screw must be of the correct diameter for the hole to be drilled. S that it may be installed feasibly. You may need 1/4” requires a 3/16” hole, and the 3/16” requires a 5/32” hole to be drilled. it must be ensured that the length of the hole to be drilled according to the screw length will ensure that the screw, once fully installed, does not come out from the hole.
try to make sure that the screw does not strip the threads into base material so that you may last several turns by hand.
HOLDING STRENGTH
Holding values of this screw varies based on the strength of the material in which the screw will be installed. It is an obvious and clear concept that making the base material harder to make holding values durable.
This screw is considered a light duty holder and must be used in light loading appliances, such as an electrical junction box to concrete or wood to brick.
This screw should never be rewound and replaced back into the same hole again and again because the holding values always deteriorate to zero.
SIZES
These screws are available in two head styles: d for surface mounted fastening, we use head slotted wed or the flat Phillips countersunk for the top of the head which is flush with the surface of the object being fixed.
Different lengths of screws are used for different diameters of materials being fixed. These screws require a shortest embedment of 1” and a largest embedment of 1-3/5”. You should have an exact measurement of the maximum length screw to use for any specific application, add the diameter of the material to the shortest embedment of 1” to get the smallest length of screw. Adding the highest embedment of 1-3/5” to the diameter of the material being fixed will provide the maximum length of screw.
Concrete screed
If you are working on a construction site you must have exact and correct information about the quality and quantity of materials you have to complete your project so that you may remove the hindrances. Similarly you must have knowledge about Concrete Screed. Although this term is not well known as concrete, it is very important to understand the formation and uses of concrete screed for accomplishing your construction project.
This is a viscous solution mixture of water, cement and sand but used only to make a smooth surface of the concrete made subfloors. In the Construction industry , it may be not an indispensable component of construction materials but many structures need it to be leveled.
Concrete screed types
There are many types of concrete screed but we will discuss the mist used and easily available so that you may select the fittest for your construction site.
Liquid screed: It is a self-leveling mixture of sand, cement and additives to make a substrate for commercial and industrial applications.
Traditional screed: It is found in semi dry state and mixed by hand, used for residential and commercial flooring.
Bonded screed: For getting strong adhesion, this type of screed is mixed with a high quality bonding agent. It is generally used for renovation purposes.
Uses of concrete screed
Wherever you require a leveled and smooth surface in your constructed structures you must use it. Some more uses are listed below:
Flooring: In industrial, commercial and residential buildings it is used to make the hard surfaces smooth.
Pavements: In the construction of footpaths, bike paths and sidewalks for pedestrians, this screed is used to create level and durability.
Sound Proofing: In multi-story buildings, it is used as a sound proof layer between floors.
